Any of you cats replaced your stock battery yet? You did? With what?

Mine was replaced last year with an OEM Infiniti (Nissan?) battery from the dealer under warranty. The battery failed, more than likely completely discharged, and since it was -45C it froze.

The original battery lasted about a year.

I took my vehicle (2011 QX56) in for service November 20, 2013. I learned my battery failed their performance test during the dealerships multi point inspection. My odometer read 21,295 miles and they replaced the battery, under warranty, with another OEM. I Purchased the vehicle new August 2011.

Historical Temperature for November 20, 2013 (for my location):

Actual Temp
67° Lo 48°
Hist. Avg.
66° Lo 45°

Battery

I still have original battery Marc. It seems to be doing fine these days. I use to buy the Die-Hard gold because they were made by Johnson Controls in Tennessee. But all the Sears stores are gone. AGM are all the rage now.

Optima are suppose to be the best, from what I read on my Diesel truck forums.

Interstate supposedly makes a real good battery,. if you can find a dealer.
Group 65 its a big battery, so go big.

Glad you are still around.
Have a good one !

Man....yall need to catch up...lol. I have a 2011 and im on my 3rd OEM battery. I'll keep letting the replace them until I have to pay then i'll go with Diehard or maybe Optima.

good responses all!

I used to be a huge fan boy of optima batteries, but im looking at the odyssey battery, specifically the PC1700MJT as man of my armada and titan brethren have.

I am liking interstate more and more. they have an AGM battery and there are a few local dealers who carry interstate.

I have a 2012 and still rocking my original batt. dealer says its still doing its thing but i need to think about upgrading as its been 3 years (my car was made in sept. 2011 as a 12 model) and i wanted to see what 2nd gen qx users are rocking.

more recommendations and/or opinions are welcomed...

Still running my original battery. I did run it down completely the first night we brought the QX home. I had the ignition on so I could use and get comfortable with all of the nav controls, etc.
Didn't realize the headlights were on the entire time....Lol.
Had to roll it out of the garage and hook my truck up to it to jumpstart it first day home.
Since then no issues.

Optima batteries are garbage based on what I've read on the Diesel forums.
I had to replace the batteries in my diesel truck. I went with Deka. They have held up very well. Truck was outside all last winter in severely cold temps for SE Michigan. Was at or below freezing for like 180 some odd nights.

yeah johnson controls bought optima and moved production south of the border. quality suffered. i was a big fan of optimas for years!

i picked up a diehard platinum which is a re-branded odyssey battery.

Excellent, You are exactly correct Marc:
I found this on another forum:
"Odyssey is the best battery without going into crazy amount of money ,the Sears Die Hard Gold & Platinum are re-badged Odyssey batteries. You want a glass mat gel battery but not an Optima. They are Junk since they were bought out and changed the construction. There are other glass mat gel batteries coming to the market and I think Interstate has one that should be a good one."

> "A CAT battery is built like a bulldozer and last a long time but they are heavy"
I have to remember this, Thanks Marc, I appreciate it,

After 8 years my 2006 QX56 battery finally died. I replaced it with the Sears DieHard Advance Gold AGM Battery. It has 775 cold cranking amps perfect for sound systems.

eight years on a nissan battery is fantastic! congrats.
