Alarm goes off when door opens

I don't know what the heck is going on. If I leave my doors unlocked and I go to open them (without the key fob in my possession) the darn theft alarm goes off. The first it happened I thought maybe the door was still ajar when I locked the car. But then it happened this weekend. I just go through mowing the yard and wondered aloud if I had locked the QX doors... so I check the hand and the door opens and the damn alarm blares at 10pm.. I have to run into the damn house, grab my key remote and press every darn button what seemed like 40 times each to deactivate the alarm...!!!

So WTF is happening here??

hahaha.. i feel you on that! the panic button is at the bottom but golly doesn't that remind you when someone has left their phone on ring or something in a quiet meeting, then when it rings, they fumble trying to shut it off?


interesting. clearly the alarm has to be disarmed if the doors are locked,so i also find that odd.

ill try this tomorrow and see if it can happen to me.

how long was your car sitting? i know after some time the BCM will shut down components when it sees the car has not moved in X minutes. was your car sitting for longer than an hour?

Well... it happened to me again this morning. I know for a fact I locked the car, because I went to the office this morning, pressed the locked on the remote, heard the honk honk.

When I came out after about 90mins I reached for the door knob, did not press onto the button and the door opened.. and of course the honk honk honk honk until I hit the ignition button.

Either my door locks aren't locking or somehow they're unlocking, but the alarm stays active.

Any ideas??

Well...I think I discovered WTF has been happening to cause the alarm to go off.

My driver door lock is NOT working properly all the time. Meaning the locks don't always lock or open. I was trying to get into the damn car this afternoon and the door wouldn't open.. the other 3 doors would unlock but the driver door wouldn't. I had to open the driver rear and reach across to unlock the lock on the driver door. Then I noticed that when I locked the car, the driver lock wouldn't lock over 50% of the time... this happens regardless if I use the button on the door handle or the key fob!!!!

ARRRGGG!!! Will take it into the darn shop this week and see why the lock is malfunctioning.

glad you found out the issue. I wonder if there is a simple reset procedure? keep the class posted...

Well.. got the QX back today. They replaced the Lock & Remote Control unit (Do they mean the actuator??)

Seems like it works now.. $365, and covered under warranty
