I have a 2017 Q50 premium plus which I've been having problems since I bought it back in 2017 with the drive belts shredding. Since it was the fourth and last time it happened it's been at the dealer since 4/15/19 and I requested Infiniti to buy back my car which they did approve of, but they gave me two options either pay me back for what I paid for the car subtract milage usage since I first started having problems or put the money I originally paid for on my Q50 towards a new 2019 any model and just pay or finance the difference. I'm not sure which should I do... I don't want any cars from infiniti but at the same time get a car that's worth 35-40k and sell it again to get the most money out of it? (My original Q50 cost 31k, I owe 24k. So they'll pay off my car plus credit me back the amount I paid already including taxes, interest etc.) So basically their discounting me 28-31k towards a new car.

My suggestion is to check the reliability of any car you are interested in with Consumer Reports. Their April issue has all the information. Then I would really hesitate to get another Infiniti if they aren't reliable. My dad's friend had a Lincoln Navigator that was a lemon. He kept contacting the dealer and corporate until they finally gave him another one under the lemon law which was new at the time. The new car had the exact same problems as the first. He finally decided to cut his losses, sold it and bought a Toyota Land Cruiser which he still has.

I replied to you earlier and since it was my first reply on this forum I got a message that it needed to be moderated before it posted, yet my subsequent replies to others were posted. In any case, I looked up the 2019 Infiniti Q50's predicted reliability in Consumer Reports and it is listed as worse than average. They have a scale that goes from Much better than average, better than average, average, worse than average and much worse than average. So the 2019 Q50 is not predicted to be very reliable. It also is much worse than average on owner satisfaction. It does have better than average scores on handling, ride, noise and seat comfort in the front. You might want to take the money and run to Mazda. They are getting to be just as luxurious and feature rich as Infinitis on the inside, but get great gas mileage.
