I replaced the throttle body. I have been driving for 2 days and the p2101 code has not come back. This is progress as it would come up after every trip before. There is still a surge at 1500 rpm under mild acceleration. If I accelerate more aggressively in the 2000-2500 rpm range no issues occur. It's as if the vehicle does not like running at 1500 rpm. Could it be a bad ecm?I'd start with the P2101 DTC. Before having to spend $$$$ for a new throttle body, get yourself a can of throttle body cleaner. Disconnect the pigtail connector fand the air intake tube from the throttle body. Give it a good cleaning by spraying directly into and all over the interior of the throttle body. The butterfly valves can be moved by hand and clean around those areas too. Me personally, I'd remove the throttle body off from the intake manifold to clean it thoroughly but you would need a new throttle body gasket.
With the cleaning done, you'll have to do a throttle body relearn. If you don't have access to a full range scan tool to do the relearn, then a video like this pretty much shows a DIY "how-to":
