I have a 2011 qx56 that has been fully serviced to date. Had the timing chain issue repaired 5 months ago. Its getting warmer here in the midwest and my air conditioner is not blowing out cold air. I have tried the highest setting to the lowest setting with a/c light on and I am not getting anything. Anyone else experience this? Any opinions or advice welcome. Thanks.

First summer I had our 12 the sensor that turns the compressor on went bad. All I had was hot air. The funniest part was my boss was with me, we were both in suits, it was close to 90 and we were around 2 hours from the shop.
Easy fix. Replaced the malfunctioned part and it never resurfaced again.

Hope this helps. Sensor is probably not the right technical term but it was the electrical part of the brain that malfunctioned.

You are right, its probably the switch, or a gas leak.

I'm going with a switch. A freon leak is highly unlikely in that new of a vehicle. I will tell you guys that is what they told me when I first drove in that I was out of freon to which I asked where the hell did it go? No leaks? Nowhere for it to escape. Better check it before you assume. Sure enough they come back half hour later and tell me the vehicle is full of freon and it's the switch that was the issue and it was being replaced. I was in and out in an hour.

Gotta love it when you tell the service guys whats likely wrong and they disagree. Only to return and eat some humble pie. Hope you didn't charge'em!

After getting an oil change I explained the situation to service rep and they techs checked out the Freon levels and stated they were low so they refilled them and blowed out cold air that day. Its been a few days now and I noticed that the car is not blowing out cold air anymore. what do you guys think??

Considering that most likely you had the timing chain replaced in the winter, and assuming that they had to remove one of the refrigerant lines to do the work(im not sure what they have to remove) it's possible that they couldn't get the proper charge in the system due to not having a high enough heat load. If that's the case then you should be fine. If not, you have a leak somewhere. If you are still under warranty then you are good because you have it documented.

leak

Yeah, They probably had to loosen and move the compressor a little. Its on the lower right side looking from the front of the motor, but it's probably in the way if your going replace a timing chain.
Interesting the water pump is front and center on top. You could almost replace it if you had to . Almost ! ;)
If it leaked down that quick, maybe they don't have something tight on a freon line. I agree with rsaunders24.
I would look at it from the bottom, remove the skid plate, its hard to tell anything with the front shroud in place.
let us know what they tell you .
hope its not anything major,
best regards

HVAC is a closed system. freon (R134a) should not leak out. i agree with the others, the prior techs have damaged one or more of those hose lines.

I ended up having the vehicle diagnosed and explained to them that after the timing chain repair the ac was not working. They responded by saying that the inspection revealed that the compressor is leaking due to gasket failure. My extended warranty will cover the parts and repair. Have had this car for 3 years and it has been serviced many times due to mechanical failure. A bit disappointed.

So are they replacing the compressor or is it an o ring where one of the lines attach to the compressor?

I just got my car back and the service rep at infiniti stated that the compressor was damaged and cracked. It was replaced under my extended warranty. I find to to be odd and suspicious for a 4 year vehicle with 55k miles to have a cracked air conditioner compressor.

It's July 2015, I just had the exact same experience with timing chain replacement costing me 4k since out of power train warranty by 2k miles. Beshoff Infiniti in San Jose CA. Started out with hissing sound for 10 mins each morning. My QX56 was less than 3 years old. There was a bulletin Infiniti released to all shops on 09/2013 notifying they recognized bad part relating to timing chain. For some reason, it did not become a RECALL!? It seems many of us experience the exact same issue with the exact same car. LET'S COMBINE OUR EFFORTS TO MAKE A MORE POWERFUL STATEMENT. Please mail me your experience and provide your VIN# and contact info, I will gather all of our stories and send them to the management team at Infiniti, all the owners of Infiniti dealerships, newspapers, social media, blogs, consumer protection groups, etc. AS A GROUP, WE CAN SPEAK MORE STRONGLY AND MAKE MORE OF AN IMPACT. My email address is krealty@gmail.com. LET'S TURN THIS INTO A RECALL, HELP OTHER OWNERS, and GET BACK OUR $! If we can get 100 owners with exact same experience, we have a good chance.

07/30/15 - you would not believe it. After I picked up my car from Beshoff Infinity in San Jose, the AC in my car stop blowing cold air. It was working perfectly before they worked on the timing chain. Brought the car back to have them fix what they did to mess it up. The told me my AC Compressor was leaking and will cost another $1500!!! IT WAS WORKING JUST FINE and asking other 5 star mechanics on Yelp and all 3 said they have not had to replace AC Compressor on Nissan or Infiniti much and for only 3 years old and under 80k miles, that's not commonplace. Looked on other forums and seems like during timing chain replacement, a lot of owners end up with a broken AC afterwards. INFINITI, you have lost a group of loyal owners as a result of poor quality parts and taking ownership. BE WARN...

What you highlight is exactly what happened to mine as well. Took my car back in after they had replaced the chain and oiler. They stated the low side line/hose on my AC had a slow leak. I'm thinking if it was a slow leak it wouldn't have worked before I took the car in. They told me the AC pump isn't in the way of the removal of the parts for the timing chain.

However I know darn good and well it wasn't leaking before they started working on it. The only good thing my Extended Insurance paid for it other than my $100 deductible.
