2011 M37 acceleration + questions! (potential buyer)

Hello one and all: My wife is very interested in the M37x. I just test drove it for the first time, and I expected smoother transition from gear to gear, esp when I stomped on the accelerator. For reference the Lexus GS 350 and the BMW 535i were much smoother.

Q: Is it just the car I was driving or that "just the way it is". I had the dial set on "standard".
Q2: How does Nissan service work you that live far from the dealer.

FYI: Our current drive is a 1997 740il (original owner).
My wife like the M but the acceleration and the distance of the dealer (2 hrs away) are my greatest concerns.
There is a Nissan dealer here in Hooterville (Salisbury, MD) who I have confirmed will do Infiniti service.

The BMW controls were just too complicated for her, and the Lexus interior was not sporty enough for her.
I will have the car I buy for a long time, so I'm trying to do it right.
Thanks in advance for your help!

The M37 does not have a smooth transmission, but it gets the job done. I'm hopeful that they change the gearing and shifting points in the 2012 and make it retroactive to the 2011 that I'm driving.

Remember that the transmission 'learns' and changes as it's driven by each driver. My 2011 M37x was not very smooth when I first got it. However, after just under two weeks of driving it, it's much better than it was and seems to be getting better all the time.

The demo you drove has been driven by a lot of people with differing driving habits and styles so the transmission has nothing consistent to zero in on. Also, people do things when demoing a car than they normally would (i.e., they treat it a little roughly).

Nissan dealers in my neck of the woods ar great, my wife has the Maxima and were happy with the service.
I plan on test driving at least 3 different 37s or 35s before making a buying decision.
