My factory dash mounted DVD player has failed and needs replaced. Infiniti first said it could be removed and exchanged for about $800. Now they are saying this isn't possible. The other alternative is to send the unit away for 2 weeks for repair by a company called Sound Systems. I believe the DVD is part of the navigation and climate system so I'm not sure the wife will want to be without the climate system for 2 weeks.

Does anyone have any other ideas on how this can be repaired? Infiniti said to replace with new system is at least $4K.

Thanks.

yes the AV control unit is a lot of money. I assume that is what they are quoting you on. i had a little scare about an issue with mine awhile ago.

Can you get a loaner? If it were me i would do the repair. There's no aftermarket solution that i'm aware of. I think they have to take apart the dash to get it out so the car wouldn't be fun to drive anyway. Or i would just live w/o the DVD function (i have kids so that is not possible).

the head unit has to come out. i would suggest a loaner or get a car to drive/rent if you want to get it repaired.
