I replaced my EX35 with a QX56, only to find out the tech package in the Q was not as extensive as the EX's Tech. package was.
Everyone tells me you can't add an ipod connector if there is a nav system.
My EX had it, and it was GREAT. integrated iPod controls right on the radio.
Does anyone know a way to hardwire an ipod with this system. I know it won't have the integrated controls but I hate having wires all over the place, and FM modulators stink.

Ipod

YOU CAN USE YOUR DVD PLAYER PLUG IN THE WHITE AND RED THAN YOU CAN PLAY IT THROUGH YOU IPOD YOU JUST NEED TO BUY THE CORD WITH THE RED AND WHITE WIRE THAT PLUGS RIGHT INTO YOUR IPOD.

How I integrated the Infiniti iPod connection cable

A couple years ago I bought the factory iPod integration kit from the dealer and installed it into my 2006. It works but it's quirky. For one thing, when it's connected and playing the in-dash screen says "XM" and not iPod. The instruction manual says this will happen.

I took the kit a step further and extended the cable to the cup holder area and made my own dock in one of the cup holders. Pictures are here

As you can see I didn't tape the bottom of the cup holder before pouring in the plastic so a lot of it leaked out the bottom but it wasn't a problem. Since the dried liquid plastic had some tiny bubbles showing, I later cut out a piece of adhesive fabric (like what the console is lined with) and installed it around the dock connector. One cool thing is that if you want you can rotate the dock in the cup holder to point toward the passenger.

So you basicly lost a cup holder doing this? Just curious.
