I recently replaced one of the lights and it looks a bit brighter than the other bulb that was not replaced. The old bulb is bluer while the new one is a brighter/whiter shade and offers more light. Does anyone know what the stock color temperature of the HID bulb is? The new one is 4200k and cost me $65.00 on Amazon instead of $200+ at the dealer. Not sure whether to replace the old bulb with a new one or exchange the new one for the correct color temperature. Thanks in advance.

I think I recall reading somewhere the stock color was 4200k but from my research there really isn't much of quality standard....

I just replaced all of the oem lights in my truck with hid's and from my research and own experience I won't ever replace one at a time for this very reason. I believe most of what we are getting here is made in China and the quality control is pretty abysmal. It would probably pay for itself over time at your cost savings to just replace them both so they match.
I've read many instances of multiple attempts at getting bulbs of exact specs to match when a pair was ordered and one didn't work, etc. Fyi. Good luck. I know it's frustrating and I wish I had better info for you. Hopefully someone else does.

Thanks for the info. Since they are both 4200k lights, it's amazing how different they look.

For $65 why not just buy another new bulb to replace the OEM one with - then they'd match that way..

Thought about that too, however what if the quality on the new one I buy is not the same? Then I'd be back where I was before but $65.00 less in my pocket.
