2007 M35 Key Fob Proximity

I'd appreciate any help.

I found my spare fob and key but the proximity function, locking and unlocking the doors, does not work.

I have found a solution to fix IF the car has a keyed ignition. But I don't have one. Unless my advanced age has gotten the best of me.

I only have a push to start button.

The engine starts when the fob is put in the dash fob compartment.

I´m certain you replaced the battery. It may be a defective circuit.
