I have a 2006 QX56 and have established that the ABS module needs replaced. It has a celinoid sound on the left side that sounds like it is engaging along with a grinding noise. When I replace the module is there any reprogramming that needs done?
Any answers will be appreciated.
Thanks

The first gen trucks, especially 04-07 had notorious brake issues.
Any chance you had the truck scanned for any brake related DTCs and have any or all (3) slip/vdc/brake lights on at the dashboard?
What you are hearing is the ABS module engaging and if it’s happening during normal driving conditions, then it could be (2) of the most common problems. The delta stroke sensor inside the brake booster (which requires replacing the entire unit) or the brake pressure sensors on the master cylinder.

Thanks for the reply. There were not any lights on the dash. I did use a scanner to check for codes. It did show codes for delta sensor and break booster defective. I ordered a brake booster from Cardone. It just came so I am looking into putting it in. Do you have any tips for installation, looks like it is time consuming.

When I had my 04 armada, luckily, it was only the brake pressure sensors that was the problem and never had to replace the brake booster. Browse on over to titantalk.com because I remember seeing a DIY-brake booster install thread many years ago. Not sure if the pics are still showing but it was a very detailed DIY.

I replaced the power brake booster and the anti lock brake pump. Found a video that helped make it easier, thanks for the heads up on that. Blead the brakes and got all the air out if the lines so i have solid brake pedal. Took it out for a test drive and at about 35 MPH it grinds like it's going into a gear and I can hear the actuator trying to engage. The only way it goes away is if I put it into 4WD low. The code that came up C1110. I think that was a brake booster sensor, which I had replaced. I'm at a loss as to what to check next. Any additional suggestions?

Unfortunately, those aftermarket brake boosters are hit or miss because no way to find out which delta sensor was installed during the rebuild. If you’re still getting the same DTCs, opt for the OE Nissan brake booster.
