Im trying to replace the rear tie rod ends. After about removing the entire knuckle (Everything but the brakes), I finally got the old outer one out with a LOT of heat and an air hammer (Yes I removed the retainer springs first). Now how do I get this new SOB in? Ive already destroyed one (At an $80 expense) trying to beat it in. I dont really want to have to get into the parking brake assembly to remove the entire knuckle to press it in.
Is there some special tool, or killer trick I need to know to install the new one?
Im afraid to heat up the "housing" and destroy another $80 part

On to the inners.....
Ive got an inner tie rod removal tool, but the rod end just spins in the housing. The new ones look like theres a bolt sticking out, and should be fairly easy to remove, but it hasn't been so far. Again, any tricks or treats?
Id like to get this thing off the rack and paid ASAP

Any help is appreciated
Thanks in advance

OK Update FWIW

To get the outers in I used a ball joint press

The inners....
Remove both boots
Hold one side from spinning and spin out the other side (I started on the passenger to get a better swing with the wrench) Both outers should be disconnected first to avoid binding.
Once its out you'll see another flange and some thin shims. Remove the inner flange on the side that came out to get a better grip with a 17mm on the inside part. If you dont remove the flange there isnt enough to grip on and youll mess it up, take my word on it:o
The other side should come out now.

Reinstall the flange and shims, and screw in the inners. One side will tighten the other side, but put a wrench on it just to be sure.

Good luck to anyone attempting this in the future.
