Ill be heading in Friday to get this done.

to those who have done the 15K service, did you find anything unusual? i replace the air and in cabin filters myself.

did the stealer try and up sell some rubbish maintenance?

I'm due, in a few weeks for my 15,000 mile maintenance. I understand this one will be around $500.00 dollars (North Texas). Did you purchase your filter parts from the dealer or elsewhere. If elsewhere, are they comparable to OEM parts?

I would love to learn how to install the in-cabin filter. It's under or behind the glove box, is that not correct?

Thank you for your help.

$500.00 that sounds pretty high for a routine service!

It does seem high for the stuff listed below. I was told by the service manager the scheduled maintenance is around $500.00 for the first 15k service then the next 15k service would be $1,000.00 and rotate back and forth from there. This is for the 2011 QX56.

15,000 MILES OR 12 MONTHS

 Replace engine oil and filter
 Replace brake fluid
 Replace in-cabin microfilter
Rotate tires (refer to page 9 for exceptions)

  Inspect the following:

__ Automatic transmission fluid 2
__ Axle & suspension parts
__ Brake lines & cables
__ Brake calipers, pads, rotors
__ Brake light & cruise control switches 1
__ Differential oil
__ Drive shaft boots (4WD/AWD)
__ Exhaust system
__ Front suspension ball joints
__ Manual transmission oil
__ Propeller shaft (4WD/AWD/RWD)
__ Steering gear and linkage
__ Steering linkage ball joints
__ Transfer case oil (4WD/AWD)

500 is a bit much, but thank you for letting me know this. ill find out tomorrow what my cost will be for the maintenance.

did any of you cats do the fuel rail recall?

the air filters are all OEM. i purchase form an online infiniti parts dealer for much less than MSRP. they charge like 100 bux to replace the in cabin filter.. that is super silly. its a 10 minute job at best. the air filter, well you know thats super easy to replace.

Just keep in the back of your mind the fact that if something major fails under warranty, they may be able to wrestle you for the resolve.

I learned this after my 2004 had 32 Infiniti documented problems and they replaced it with a 2007 for the cost of dealer prep.

As for buying your own parts for the dealer to change, remember the old saying "You don't bring your own steak to a restaurant and ask them to cook it."
Just my 2 cents.

not sure if your post was directed to me, but i have been a nissan customer since 2006--2 armadas and now a QX and i ALWAYS ALWAYS purchase OEM parts and i only purchase parts that are maintenance parts such as air and in cabin filters. Both of these services are ridiculously expensive for the time it takes to change yourself.

ive replaced both on my prior armadas and there is nothing to go wrong with swapping out a filter.

perhaps you misunderstood what i was saying, if your post was directed at me. i have never had the dealer install 3rd party parts.. i dont even think they (nissan/infiniti) will even allow this.

Don't take it personally. I was just throwing it out there because I have friends who have been appalled that the dealer wouldn't make a warranted repair after finding aftermarket items or fluids.

I just don't want to see anyone get questioned for saving a couple of bucks.

For the record, I changed my own in cabin filter as well, but I leave everything else up to the dealer at a cost of $450 every 15K until the warranty ends. Then I handle everything.

I've own a QX56 since they came out in '04. It hasn't been without problems but the dealer has been very good from the beginning because they do the service.

15k maintanence

good luck marc, Hope it went well. I noticed they say change the brake fluid but not the rear differential oil.
Interesting. I would think they have DOT 4 brake fluid in the new QX's. I guess they think it will draw dampness.
I would have guessed that Infiniti, would have wanted the rear differential fluid changed quicker the first time, and longer intervals thereafter. You know, with the rear differential getting broke in and little metal shavings in the manufacturing process suspended in the oil.
I changed the rear differential fluid my Dodge Ram and at 19k miles it looked like chocolate milk and it was suppose to have been synthetic oil.
Granted it is a 2500 truck and I tow some, but the oil in the differential is very important.
It should be easy to change the rear differential oil. Fill and drain plug are facing rearwards and plenty of room to get to them.
Its such a well built vehicle.:D Good strong frame and a big aluminum driveshaft. Make sure they check the air in your spare, Marc.
Have a good one

Ok guys. I'm scheduled for my 15k service in the am. What has been the overall experience price wise? Upsells? What did you do and do without or do on your on? Thanks in advance. Hoping to not have to drop $500 this close to Christmas with a 14 hour drive ahead to celebrate the holidays with our families.

i responded to your PM....

Update: I'm here. No big issues. Standard oil change and tire rotation package $80. Recommended air and cabin filters for $170 and I declined. I'm still considering the k&n air filter. It's about the same one time fee plus if I get any increase in mpg and/or Hp that would be a bonus. Hoping I can find a cabin filter as well. I will do those myself and save the money. I did wipers last time. $50 for two new wiper blades installed so be prepared if they offer that as they may charge an install fee. I've had work vehicles serviced for years and never been charged for a wiper replacement. Lesson learned. Now I clarify and verify upfront what is being done and the cost.
Fortunately for me I've got a great group of guys who are good to work with here provided I ask. I've been pretty honest with them about my goals and they have always been straight with me. The wiper thing blindsided me but it was my fault for not asking beforehand.

glad it worked out. i had the same experience sans wiper blades. i have only used my wiper blades twice in the year i have had the car. :D
