I need to pick the brains of anyone on my suv. I have an 04 QX56 i have had it for a couple of years and i am going to try and start to fix all the problems with it. It has no warranty so I will be doing what ever i can myself.
Any advice will be appreciated.

1. The rear DVD player has stopped working, and since I have a baby that will soon be turning foward I would like to get it fixed or replaced. When you put a DVD in it ejects the disk and reads disk format error. Does anyone know a good place to buy a replacement or have a fix for that?

2. Some of the speakers cut out driving down the road with the radio on.

3. The rear glass hatch does not open.

4. The drivers side window will only roll up half the time.

5. This past winter had alot of snow and tried to use the 4x4 only to find out it does not work. Could not make it up the drive way, which really sucks. The drive line indicator shows it is locked in momentarily then the 4X4 warning light comes on.

6. The drivers side headlight has alot of moisture in it. Is there anyway to seal it or do you just have to replace it?

04 apparently was not the year for this vehicle. Wish I would have done my research before I bought it. But what is done is done. Any hints tips or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks and sorry for the book.

1. and 2. I never heard of these problems. My DVD will not accept "copies", only originals.
3. The rear hatch release button was problematic due to water leaking into the switch.(TSB) It must be replaced with the updated version. Not hard to do, but requires you to remove the inside hatch plastic cover.
4. The window switch on the driver door also has a TSB in that they fail due to water. Pull the switch and jump it out to varify. Replace it if necessary.
5. When switching the truck into 4WD, make sure you have the transmission in Neutral. Not park or drive or it will not engage and warn you by flashing the icon.
6. Headlight hold moisture and will not affect the bulb. (TSB) I personally have a hard time believing this. Locate the drain hole and make sure it's clear. I don't know were it is.

Good luck with your new truck. I had a copy #81 in 2004 and after 32 documented repairs we wrote a letter to Infinity and they replaced it with a (then) new one. All the problems were little things as above, plus brakes, rattles, and the body management computer.
Never left me stuck on the road!

I have a DVD player for you!!

Hi. I have an 04 QX56 and I have loved it. There have been a few problems over the years (the drivers window does the EXACT same thing). But I am now having to surrender my vehicle in a bankruptcy. (Not mine, very long story). So, I am selling all I can out of it. I replaced the DVD player when mine would not eject the movie about 2 years ago. I paid $300 will sell it for $100. It works great. I have have 5 kiddos and will tell you its a MUST! LOL. Good luck and let me know if your interested...
