I have 136K miles on this thing, driving 70 on the highway, suddenly it wouldn’t accelerate, had to pull over (ironically, right in front of the Infiniti dealership!). SES light says cat converter but no signs of issues there. Cleared the code with my reader, started fine but kept shutting down again after a few seconds of sputtering.

Of course it could be, but everything I look up elsewhere said it’s likely a fuel pump, fuel filter, alternator, battery, sensors, etc.

Any ideas?

Of course the thing fired right up and ran great for an hour for my mechanic. Taking it to another shop now, the one that replaced my timing chain. Hopefully it breaks down on the side of the road for them.

So frustrating…I’ve NEVER had this many issues with a car before. Especially one that could potentially leave me stranded on a busy highway like it did on Saturday.

The other shop drove it a few times, finally got it to act up. Mass air flow sensor. Said it was bad and installed backwards. They’re changing it, driving it for a while again for a few days. Hopefully that’s it. Crazy no warning signs though. Just up and quit on me.

Apparently the MAF sensor was the culprit. So far at least. We’ll see if I get stranded again. On the plus side, it’s looking as if my MPG may tick up a bit!

I got it back and even the cat code wasn’t popping; alas, until late yesterday. I was hoping the MAF was creating a faulty cat sensor reading. Oh well.

This thing is like the hot blonde who’s high maintenance and with a bad temper but you still have hope because man! Imagine if she were hot AND normal! I don’t know how long I can put up with her though. She’s stolen my money and gotten under my skin many a time.
