For about a year now my rear camera is no longer working. When I put my truck in reverse it doesn't show what's behind me. There is also no beeping sound when I back up near things. Is there anything I can check? And what is the estimate of the cost to repair this?

CCU and/or AV unit could be damaged. BCM may have a fault. Could be wiring issues.

can you call up the bird's eye and see all the cameras? and red "X"'s where the camera images should be?

did you buy it used or new? did you do any modifications to any wiring? did it just stop working one day or was it intermittent/behaving erratically prior to it not working?

parts can be expensive.

@marctronixx
I bought it used 6 years ago. No modifications. It just stopped working. I'll have to check the other cameras. I'll get back to you. Thanks!

when you press the camera button to pull up the birds eye, if you see all the cameras , including the rear, with no "X" on the image where the camera image would show, then we know the camera is working and the CCU is working. the rear camera has more issues than the other ones due to it sometimes getting water ingress and bending of the wiring in the hatch.

@marctronixx I pressed the camera button and it shows images on all the cameras, but the rear camera. I don't see an X, but just a black picture. I do see green and yellow lines. I tried to include pics, but i get a message that the files are too large for the server to process. I need to find a way to make the files smaller to upload them. What do you think about the cameras? What would you suggest is the least expensive way to fix this?

you can use imgur to host photos and you can then link them anywhere you want.

if you see the lines, that means the CCU is working. you dont have an X so that points more to the actual camera being faulty. it could be a wiring issue or it could be the camera itself may be defective. you will have to remove the back door finisher to inspect with your eye if you see any issues.

there are some tips on this forum or you can search youtube. the back door is held on by those plastic push pin type circular clips -- the resemble a plastic screw. you CAREFULLY pull them out , lest you break them. that gets you to the back door where you can see all the goodies.

in terms of other issues, i cant say. there could be corrosion or anything back there. if it all looks good, it may be that the camera needs replacing.

id try and remove the rear finisher first and make sure there is not anything else going on. could be a wire harness or maybe even something else upstream. don't want you wasting money on something you may not need.

You mentioned wiring harness - how could that cause a problem? Proactively asking?

my point is you should eyeball the wiring to see if there are any issues with it before you start ordering parts.

@marctronixx - do you have a link to a post or youtube video illustrating how to remove the rear finisher? I have looked and I can't find it anywhere.

Can someone point me to a post in the forum or link on Youtube explaining how to remove the rear finisher? This is the inside of the rear hatch. I may need to replace the rear backup camera on my 2012 QX56. If not need to look at the components back there.

Hello, I know this is an old thread but I figured I would try! I do have the red/orange x when I pull up the Birds Eye view. Camera is intermittent and right now is more of a white out. From what I get from the thread, does that mean a CCU or camera issue? Thanks in advance

what model year and trim level is your car? did you just buy the car or have you had it a while? how long has this issues been occuring? is it the same camera? do you see the backup lines?
for now, the X means the camera needs calibrating, but could also mean its damaged. which camera is it? any other issues with the car?

It is a 2012 Infiniti QX56. I’m not 100% sure on the package, I purchased used 2 years ago. The rear camera is always the issues and I do not see back up lines. Seems to be bad when it is cold (I am in NH) which makes me think water damage. I repaired the sagging rear suspension by replacing the relay, compressor, and rear struts about 6 months ago. No issues other than that.

not seeing the backup lines could potentially mean the camera ccu may be the culprit.

here is a link to an example on ebay-

Were you able to fix this? I’m having the same problem on my 2012 QX56 rear camera only. I need to know how difficult the fix is.

Were you able to fix this? Mine has the same problem and I’m wondering if you were able to resolve yours.
