Battery dead today

I didn't see anything more recent than this thread. Am I the only one still having battery issues? Had the original battery replaced in 2015 (2012 model) under warranty. This one only lasted 2 years. I was gone for 5 days and returned to a dead battery that won't even take a charge. On the one hand, the dealer said they'd pro-rate the new one based on the 84 month warranty, so I should only be paying about 25% of a new battery. On the other hand, these OEM batteries seem to do this every 2 - 3 years.

Has anyone had better luck with an aftermarket battery or do are these QX just exceptionally hard on all batteries?

Very typical of Infiniti/Nissan batteries to fail between the 2 to 3 years mark.

I have OEM battery that I had installed a year ago. So mine is still good.

I am so glad before leaving for a trip to London/Paris this past 2 weeks, I left my QX battery disconnected. Well, I had it disconnected 2 weeks before the opportunity even came up that I needed to leave the country for a short trip. So when I found out I was suppose to go to Europe for 2 weeks, I just left mine disconnected.

So my QX stayed disconnected for about a month. I came back a few days ago, connected it and the car fired up like no problem.

My batteries were lasting a year, until whatever software fix/alternator wire cut was performed. Then my battery lasted two years. My last oil change they reported that the battery failed the load test, so I decided to get a real battery that will last at least 3 years. I ended up with the Odyssey 65-PC1750T that was recommended on here. While it fit, it wasn't a straight drop-in. It's lower than the original, and it was tough to bend the wires/clamps down to secure to the posts. Since it was lower, the brace was too big to clamp the battery down. Also, the posts were smaller than the original battery and I needed to get some lead shims to expand the posts where the original battery clamps could tighten securely.

Got mine from Autozone -

I bought discounted Autozone "egift" cards from Raise.com and those discounts combined with Autozone's 20% off coupon brought the battery down to around $200.

Fair enough, but they also keep you in a cycle when the Nissan battery has an 84 month warranty. I could pay $250 for an Odyssey or $60 pro-rated from the warranty for the Nissan replacement. I'm just surprised they don't last more than 3 years. I've never had that kind of issue with batteries in any vehicle I've owned before - including an Armada and 2 Titans with the same 5.6l engine and similar electronics/sensors.

you don't have to get an odyssey battery. that's just what i use and i've had no issues with it in the years i've owned it. i rather pay money for a quality battery and let that savings and peace of mind carry over the years...

yeah its unfortunate the battery is not up to par. the nissan armada and qx have a lot of tech on board and the battery is underpowered for such a beast. nissan don't make batteries and they no doubt get the cheapest vendor. other car makers do this also.

there are many posts of nissan oem batteries failing early on other forums--one of them i have been a member of for many years, so your issue is not unique in any way.

Funny. My battery went tits up today too. Got a Duramax Gold battery from Autozone. Looks identical to the OEM. Costco doesn't stock a replacement battery.

Well, that last battery lasted just a little over 2 years, so no free replacement, but pro-rated. Mine died again last week. So I believe that makes it 6 or 7 batteries since I've owned the qx since 2011? At least this new one is rated 810 cca, better than the earlier ones I've had.
