SO I noticed when i turn off the car (2012) about 2-3 seconds after its off, i hear this "sucking" noise (for lack of a better term). it happens every time the car shuts off. its a brief, quick noise and lasts about one second. "ssssff" is kinda how it sounds... :o

if you guys dont mind, just turn on the car for a few seconds or after you have driven somewhere, shut it off and listen under the hood. i have not popped the hood to see what it is or where its coming from but i will tomorrow if i remember to do it. :)

car runs perfect as the day i picked it up, just never noticed this sound before...

I think mine does it too. I noticed it from the drivers side front. I thought maybe it was the vacuum in the pre-crash brake system "voiding" itself or something.

This is the noise I hear when I turn it on and back out of the driveway and move forward a few feet.

thanks gents,

so tonight i paid more attention and it comes from the air intake vent right there on the fender....

So, is this a normal activity/sound for the air intake vent? Wondering if I need to report this the next time I visit dealer for maintenance.

not sure. i have not noticed it before...

i can reproduce it each time i shut off the car, so whatever it is its consistent. :)

the air intake is sealed basically a CAI!) so maybe its the VVEL motor adjusting itself....

dont know, but i am happy to report it.. :)

went to get Fatz diaper changed today (oil change :D) and inquired about the sucking noise when the car shuts off.

tech says this is normal. i never paid any attention to it before, but in truth when i turn off the car im usually inside and dont hear it by the time i open the door.

so seems normal. also you new cats on the block with a 2011+ q, test this out and see if you hear the sucking sound coming from the air intake on the drivers side there.
