There doesn't appear to be any numbers on them. I thought I could set one to one position and another to another position but nothing moves when I lock then unlock by smartkey but my seat moves every so often to different positions which is really annoying.I have set both 1 and 2 to the positioons I like and it still moves out of place every so often. Someone help me figure this damn thing out.

That is a good question. I got mine as a demo (2012 Black on black with Tech pkg) and both keys were already programmed.

I tried to reprogram them per the manual but I could only get the POSITION #2 MEMORY to retain that setting. Nothing will hold for #1.

Is there a way to factory reset the keys and the memory function and start from scratch?

each fob has a unique chip in it.

the pos 1 can be set for , say, the hubbys fob, and pos 2 can be set for the wifey. :)

you can also set the HVAC, radio controls to each unique fob as well, so if hubby wants to get into the car and have the AC on 68 and tuned in to XM 43 on the radio, he can set all of this with the FOB.

if the wifey wants the AC to be set to 72 and have the radio tuned to XM 100 :D she can also set the fob up.

to do these you need to a ignition on, with the driver door open and press a key on the fob type of deal and yes its in the operators manual.

let me know if you need more help...

Have you guys tried reading the manual? I recall all of that being in there.

Where does it say how to stop the seat moving to a position you never programmed it for every 3rd or 4th time you use the key FOB?

Where does it say how to tell which FOB goes to which position?

Please let me know what page, I have the manual right here and can't find anything.

perhaps my post was of no help? :o

the FOB will not tell you if its #1 or #2. the car will recognize the FOB by its ID# and the BCM will talk to the other parts in the chain and the ADP to adjust seats, radio settings, HVAC, etc. Again all of that has to be set up for EACH FOB.

if you pick up your wifes FOB and not yours and they are both set up individually, then you will see that once you crank up the car and the settings not being yours.

perhaps I am not understanding your full question. the 1 and 2 push button memory setting switches on the car are used in case you pick up the wrong FOB, for example, and you need to set the seat, mirrors, and steering wheel for your setup.
