Checking to see if anyone has ran any other size tire than the 275/50/22? Still only one tire in that size and don't really want to go with the Bridgestones.

Maverick, have you had any issues with the 305's, tire rub, etc. How do they look on the QX, could you post a picture or two. Thanks

I was also curious what you do not like about the Bridgestones.

Anything more on this? I have stock wheels/tires on my 2005 right now but am upgrading to 22's soon. I talked to a few guys and they're cool with 305's, then another store told me those are quite and wide and I should go with the 285...which are 10mm wider than stock.

What I don't want is a 'skinny' tire look on the car. The wider the better as long as performance is not compromised.

Per the attached tire spec comparison the 305's are 1.18" wider than the stock 22's. All other size comparison's are relatively the same. If you look at how much tire space is in your wheel well when turning there should be enough clearance. If you're that worried about it just have the shop put one front tire on and check to see if there is good clearance. If it doesn't work for you they should take the tire off and you can get the smaller size. As soon as my crappy Bridgestones need replacing I'm going with the Goodyear Fortera SL 305/45R-22.

Aren't the stock 22 rims 8.5" wide, or am I wrong about that (and I hope I am)? The minimum recommended rim width for the fortera 305 45 22's is 9.5". I have squished a tire with a minimum recommended rim width of 8.5 onto an 8" rim, but I don't know that I would try anything more than that.

Jetskier, thanks for finding out this small but important detail. The stock 22" wheel is only 8" wide. The Fortera need's at least a 9.5" wheel. The only way to get it to fit is to buy a 22" by 9.5" wheel. Back to the drawing board!

Check out the Nitto Terra Grappler 285/50/22. It looks like it might fit, just really expensive.

Hmmm... Nice find...getting closer, 8.5" minimum recommended rim width. I think it would definitely fit. It's only one "upsize". I think someone should try it, then post pictures so I can see if I want to do it or not. :D
I put 305 55 20 BFG all-terrains on my stock 20" wheel, limited Tundra. Wheel was 8", and minimum rim width for the tire was 8.5. Had no problems.

Where are you getting 8.5"? Nitto's website says 8" to 10".

It was not from Nitto's website, but probably from a retail tire website.
Very cool...I'm glad I was wrong.;)

Now put 'em on your truck, so I can see if I want to do it. :D

Wonder if the Grapplers would look too aggressive looking for the QX?
This photo shows the Terra Grapplers in the 285 50 22. Looks pretty good.
