Buy or Wait - QX56 2012-2013

I have been looking at both used 2011 and 2012 QX56. I am deciding to get the 2012 new one since the price (I get VPP discount) is about $6k different between 2011 (average 20K+ miles) and 2012 (0 miles). I keep my cars forever.

However, I am not sure if the 2013 will have additional features which I may want to wait for. I liked the 2010 airplane style overhead video and light attachment and detachable center console.

Anyone knows what additional features or enhancements will be on the 2013 and when it will come out?

nothing worth waiting for. get the 2012. if you wait you will miss out. what if you get the 2013 and then for the 2014 year they add auto steering or some such... then what?

im being silly, just grab the 12. there has not been any major features rumored on any blogs ive looked at. remote start? maybe.

the backup prevention assist would be an awesome upgrade (its on the new jx). im not sure its going to be on the 2013...

I was told that it would be around January or February of next year before the 2013's get here. I have not been made aware of any major upgrades either. Remote Auto Start is available as a dealer programming at certain dealers. There is a fee for the work but it's a necessity for me. Uses the same fob. Range is the same as the unlock/lock range. Doesn't defeat the security system as no fob is left in the vehicle. Doesn't go dead when you press the brake pedal either. Simply get in, push the start button three times to move the ignition to run and off you go.
I was under the impression that the touring package on the 12 had the backup prevention? Either way I didn't want the 22" wheels or the adaptive lighting out of fear they would fail. Moving parts tend to wear out, etc. I've read where the lane departure warning can get annoying also. Regardless I couldn't justify the extra money for what I need. My opinion of course.

i love all the extras and have them all. sure working parts will wear out, but i know people who have cars (bmw's) that are a few years old with the moving headlamps and they are working just fine, so i see these working for many years to come.

the 12 does not have the backup prevention.

and all of the warning chimes can be turned off. id rather be slightly annoyed than to know im moving into an adjacent lane. now i can read my messages and such and not worry about straying too far from the lane.. naah, those idiot lights/sounds do not bother me at all, but people have to complain about something... that said, the lane warning can be turned off as well as the other features and you can turn one or all on a la carte. people post on the web to complain and rarely do they sign up just to post how positive an experience they have with anything these days...

id like to have the backup prevention but i will get over it.

i love this car and would purchase it again in a heart beat.

I have not confirmed anything. Just reporting what I was told in regards to the new year models rolling out....Fwiw I have not heard anything to the contrary however I certainly wouldn't qualify as one in the know....

Finally bought QX56 4WD Theather package last week. Great car and wife loves it.
