We've set the desired position for the seat via programming the key/FOB both at the dealership and at home. After a few days, it seems to lose the desired seat location. Same key/FOB and we did not disconnect the battery.
Kind of pain to have to reset it every time I get into the vehicle.

little more explanation needed.

are you saying after some time, when you get in the car and turn over the engine, the seat, wheel, mirrors, etc etc do not move into place that's been stored with the fob?

OR do those things move but not in the proper position?

does the seat move back on exit of the vehicle? (its a setting)

also are you adjusting any of these items during your drive? say even though you get in the car and the seat, etc, gets into position as normal, do you adjust the wheel or anything?

Yes.

Yes it does move back on exit.

No.

Once I physically move the seat all the way back, it stays during the drive. Once I turn the vehicle off and restart it, the seat moves forward, which is my wife's setting, yet she hadn't driven it.

do you have both memory positions with stored settings?

do you also have the AC setup for each fob? (this is another feature).

if you are using both fobs, one for you and one for your wife, go out and erase the stored settings and just use ONE of the fobs for a couple days. meaning, just setup one FOB with stored positions, etc and dont use the other with the stored positions.

see if this makes any difference.

some possible issues:

1. low battery
2. mobile phone could be interfering with the antenna thats used to detect the FOB. the wireless signals used for the FOB to talk to the car are very weak. if you have ATT or T-mo (GSM), they use stronger freqs as opposed to CDMA (VZW, sprint, virgin, metropcs etc) and they could cause just enough interference to prevent the car form detecting the correct fob and adjusting.

above is just some possible scenarios. they may or may not apply to you.

worse case you have a faulty system that loses memory settings. i would say this is probably NOT the case but try using one fob with settings. perhaps replace the battery in the FOB also...

I am having a similar issue. However, my issue is specific to just the steering wheel not retaining memory position. I've even take mine to the dealer, but at the time they couldn't recreate it (of course!).

I store the position in memory and after a few days (sometimes within the same day if I drive several times on the same day) when I start the vehicle, the steering wheel will position itself several positions lower than the setting. I then press the Memory position 1 to see if it will reset itself to the stored setting, but it remains at the incorrect position. I then move the steering wheel back to the proper place and save it to memory and it works for a bit again. At first I wondered if it was just me and the position I was sitting in. But I used a level on top of the steering wheel to prove to myself that it was in a lower setting than I had stored.

One more note - I quit associating the key fob to the memory setting just to ensure it wasn't something with the key fob. That rules out any battery or interference issues with the key fob.

@just,
yea your issue stems from the system. so you say only the steering wheel is the only issue, im guessing the seat and mirrors all move to their positions? sure the mirrors may not move if they haven't been altered from the stored position, so move them by hand and then see if they go out of wack. if they do, it sounds like the ADP box may need to be replaced. its a plug and play thing so not a lot to really do. the ADP stores the settings for the seats, mirrors and wheel.

settings

yeah, Justafew, every now and then I will get in the QX and it forgets to set the steering wheel. I'll notice it when leaving a parking lot and it will be in the up-exit position. It will be like driving a bus, and I will stop put it in park and press 2 and it adjust mirrors, seat, steering wheel correctly.

I think it picks up my wifes key FOB same time as mine and can't decide which setting to choose, so it goes default and waits for button selection.
Its done this a couple times, never paid that much attention to it, I usually just adjust the steering wheel on the fly. I know your not suppose to do that.
If I am by myself, It seems to set the QX to my settings everytime, but I will start tracking that theory more closely.
could be the batt in the fob, I guess,
Maybe it just likes keeping me on my toes, doesn't bother me. It does pick up the bluetooth items everytime. That's good.
Hope you figure out the problem justafew
have a good one

No, I didn't know about that extra feature.

if you are using both fobs,

No, only using the one FOB.

some possible issues:

1. low battery

This may be the problem as we purchased our 2011 QX56 in August of 2011.

2. mobile phone could be interfering with the antenna thats used to detect the FOB. the wireless signals used for the FOB to talk to the car are very weak. if you have ATT or T-mo (GSM), they use stronger freqs

We use T-Mobile

I'm thinking the ADP may be the issue with mine too. I'll have them check for that next time I visit the dealer for an oil change/service.

Thank you all for everyone's input/response.

I had this same problem years ago in my 2004 and then the 2007. Whenever I climbed into the vehicle and my leg so much as touched one of the seat controls, it would cancel out the memory adjustment every time.
I don't know where the seat controls on the 2011 are located, but it's a thought.

All of the seat controls are located on the left side of the seat. No where near where my leg or hands would be entering or exiting the vehicle.

Seat & Steering wheel position not returning

Ok.. every few weeks, when I start the Beast the darn seat/steering wheel position will not return to my pre-set position. So, this morning I get ready to go, and my seat is way back and the steering wheel is pointed upward, just like it is on exit/when I turn off the truck.

Nothing worse, than have to manually move the seat up and the steering wheel back to where I like it....

Thoughts??

Possible issues with the BCM...if you under warranty definitely have the dealer check it out.

Happened maybe 10 times total in the three years we had the 12. Keep in mind I work out of mine so I'm in and out as many as 10 times any given day.
I chalked it up to an electrical glitch like anything else.
I'm 6'3 so the seat always stays back. The wheel does tilt down some for my comfort zone.

if the seat or anything memory related gets altered this cancels the memory setting. the car ASSumes the user wants to make the change and the car does not revert to the stored memory position.

if you bump the seat controls, tilt the steering wheel, move the mirrors--any function that is controlled by the ADP (Automatic Drive Positioner) this will occur.

its not a "fault" of the BCM--this is by design. whether its a welcomed design or not is up for interpretation.. ;)

Marc what we experienced was a failure of the system to recognize the keyholder settings for the seat and the steering wheel.
None of the times I mentioned above were created because I altered anything.
Each time I got in. Stepped on the brake pedal and pushed the start button which should have activated the saved settings. It did nothing.
Just a few times mind you. But it did fail.

The reason I said BCM is because when I was at the dealer getting service on day, they ended up having to replace one in another customers QX who was complaining about similar activity...

dont get me wrong, it's quite possible you have an issue/fault somewhere, but do take note that if one of those settings are adjusted in any way (could be intentional or not) it will cancel the settings. simply push the memory button to get things back in order.

this ADP system is the same system on other nissan products (minivan, sedans, suvs) and this type of phenomenon has happened across those other vehicles as well.

That's good to know Marc. Embarrassingly I never even considered hitting the memory button on the door panel.
I just figured it was a computer glitch and adjusted the wheel myself.

My situation is probably vastly different than others in that my seat always stays at the most rearward position so the only thing that adjusts for me is the wheel on entry.

yeah my seat is always as far back as possible. i think there is a setting that disables the seat move and steering wheel move on exit/key off in the screen menu... if memory (no pun intended!) serves... :p

Lost the stupid seat/steering settings again today.... man, this is driving me nuts... happens maybe once every other week.
