My '99 Infinity is skipping (mis-firing) and I want to tune it up. The repair manual says I should check the coils and the plugs. However, when I lifted the hood I immediately knew I might be in over my head. I'm not even sure where they are anymore. Naturally, its an electronic ignition which is new to me. any advice on locating them is appreciated.

my advice is if you are not sure contact a mechanic or dealership

don't be intimidated, just remove the plastic cowl that covers the engine and there will be three small black boxes on each side of the engine they will be on or near the valve covers and each have a 2 wire plug on them (these are your coils) each will be held in place with a 10mm nut, remove the nut and gently remove the spark plug is underneath each coil(coil on plug ignition) you will also notice that there are no plug wires or distributor only a coil and plug change the plugs and your tune up is done. as for the miss fire try putting dielectric grease into each sparkplug boot or replace them and have your coils checked as these do fail.
