Howdy,

My 2012 Qx56 is reaching 52000 km now, and qualified for the timing chain recall. Have not yet used it to toll anything. Is it the right time to change the differential oil and transmission fluid? Called dealer and they quote about CAD$500 for these oil change.

Thanks for you reply.

infiniti doesn't actually have a recommended timeframe for the diff iif you look at the manuals...it's every 30k in the "premium" section but never in the main sections, rather it just recommends inspection. Same with ATF. I think i did both of mine around 60 or 70 (car was used, ~30k when i got it, and i don't know if previous owner ever did it)

I am North Carolina and called my infiniti dealer monday. To do the 60,000 mile service which is schedule1 and 2 was $370 and to do the premium upgrade service was $899. Total was $1269. Transmission and differential fluids fall under premium upgrade service which is done every 30,000 miles or 24 months.

Why was it $1,269.00, wouldn't the premium service include what was covered in the standard service?

No. if you look at service intervals. The 60,000 mile service has two sections. The standard which is schedule 1 and 2 which was $370. if you look to the right section it say premium upgrade adds the following services to schedule 1 and 2. To do all of the optional premium upgrade service was $899. the optional premium upgrade is only done every 30,000 miles or 24 months.

every 30k seems excessive to me given normal use of the car, but i'm no expert.

I agree but $899 every 30,000 or 2yrs not bad. The most you will pay is $370 on the other service intervals.

That's still high...I know I didn't pay that much at 60k and I had all fluids changed, 4 wheel alignment, all 3 wiper blades along with everything else listed in the service manual. I'd hate to see what your dealer is going to charge at 90 or 105k.
