Ok guys i am new here and new to Infiniti vehicles. I have a 2011 QX56 that i purchased less than a year ago for my wife. I have seemed to have several problems with it so far. I recently have a noise that i cannot pin point. i will attach a video so you can hear it for yourself. The video is dark but the noise seems to be loudest from the passenger side of the engine just behind the power steering pump.

There is 109,000 on the car, i bought it used from an infiniti dealer. just recently had the cat converter code come in. had a problem 1 month after purchase with bank 2 timing due to lack of oil change knowledge on this specific vehicle.

Sounds like you need to get the recall for the timing chain ASAP. Sound like your guides are worn possibly due to extended oil change intervals.

hey guys thanks for the response. I was afraid that would be the answer. I have listened to several timing chain issues and they all sounded like metal. The two chains hitting each other. This sounds like a power steering whine. Most people say their noise goes away after 10 mins or so and this is always there. I intend to call my dealer monday to see if i qualify for the recall

agree sounds like timing chain issues. worn idler? if you can get access to a stethoscope, listen to the area where the chains live and see how it sounds.
