What are you guys using with the video inputs for playing videos?

I wish we could use the USB while playing a DVD and split the sources, so I am looking for the next best.

Does anyone have a simple solution to playing video files via the component input, maybe a tablet with video out?
I would rather not use another DVD player and would like to play by ripped DVD's.

Thanks

what scenario are you trying to setup?

you have 3 screens in the car. each screen can have its own input, separate from the others.

You can put a DVD in the player and watch it up front
at the same time you can plug in a USB drive and play it in the left passenger screen
at the same time as above, you can plug in a composite unit to play on the right passenger screen.

the input is not a component input, it is baseband or Composite input. you can attach any peripheral to it that terminates in the composite setup. so if you have a tablet that has the ability to output composite or you have a black box to convert the tabs signal (or a mobile phone! remember, if you have a mobile phone with on board flash memory with videos, you can send its output to the system as well, granted you can convert it to composite) to composite, you are golden.

The ideal scenario is:
Front passengers listening to radio
Rear passengers each have own source - one DVD and one other source.

Marctrnoixx - you mention one can watch DVD while other can watch from USB drive. I could not replicate it. It seems like I can only use one source from the front and the other must be the rear composite inputs.

all screens are independent of each other.

in the back, you can use the remote and switch between composite and DVD and i _think_ usb as well, since you can view a movie from the thumb drive on the rear screens. front screen you can switch between AUX (composite) DVD, USB, radio, sat radio.

you can for sure have the radio playing up front and with the included IR phones, little tommy, who is sitting behind mom, can have his xbox connected to AUX and playing a game, whilst little katie, whos sitting behind dad, can watch finding nemo on DVD.

I too can not replicate having one rear screen play a USB (ripped movie) and the other from the DVD player. That would be the preferred setup since I don't have anything to plug into the Aux composite ports.

Same here. When you press USB button on remote it switches both screens. Looks like you can only isolate the rear inputs to a separate screen.

Now I have the issue of what do I want to use for those inputs. I have most f my DVD's ripped to an external hard drive. I need to see what will work maybe a tablet with composite outputs or a Roku connected to a USB drive.

I did not mean to give false hope here. I have been able to see all inputs on the rear screens so just figured you can isolate the USB port to rear and have DVD up front. Its just me so no one sits back there. I will experiment on my end as well. :o

Rear Video Inputs

Is this Rear Display control screen available on the 2013 QX56? On my 2012 QX, when I press the Rear Display button, it only gives me the option to turn the screens on or off. I cannot select the inputs. That has to be done by remote. It would be great if I can update my system to include this new screen.

Thanks for posting the pic. I'll have to check with the dealership to see if I can get this screen with a software update.

Any luck on the software update from the dealer?

Looks like we're stuck with the outdated software. Only the 2013s have this updated rear display settings screen. I called four different Infiniti stealers, and they all said the same thing....It can't be done. I think this is very stupid. If they have something better, it should be able to be applied to previous model years as long as the body style and components are the same. This is a sad day for my kids :(
