The “Reverse Tilt-Down” feature will move the glass on the outside mirrors downward when the gear selector is placed in the Reverse (R) position. As the mirror glass moves downward, it may reach the end of its travel. If the mirror glass reaches the end of its travel it will make a clicking noise. The clicking noise may occur once or multiple times.

Does anyone have access to the subject TSB? Outside mirror on my 2011 QX56 clicks when I put vehicle in reverse and dealer says they are not aware of a TSB for that problem. However, the statement above is from an Infiniti TSB.

Am curious as to what the TSB might say regarding a fix or cause.

Thanks.

boom. done.

however, the tsb states this is NORMAL behavior.

if you are handling the glass in the mirror (cleaning, etc) you may push it causing the click sound. those clicks are used to tell the ADP where the mirror should be set, according to your preset memory function.

i would not advise to keep messing with it but if you clean the mirror and it clicks, its not broken. it has shifted from your preset view and if you have the memory set for the mirrors, just press the mem button and they will reset back to your setting.

again the click is normal per the tsb.

I had both the LH and RH side view mirrors replaced under warranty due to this issue. In fact both were doing it but the LH mirror was far worse. After putting the QX in reverse, the mirror would attempt to tilt down as normal but in doing so it would click loudly and stutter.

They had the RH mirror in stock, however they had to order the LH mirror motors (housings were not changed) from Japan!

Mine does the stuttering and clicking when tilting down and seat memory selection....its very loud but they are going to look at it tomorrow when I take it in for the catalytic converter replacement. I will talk to them about this TSB...

Were the replacement any better?

Does anyone else have a lot of play in the side view mirrors where it attaches to the hinge? Mine shakes enough on the highway at about 80 to drive me crazy when I look in it for a lane change.

no such play here...

Well....i guess I'll get that checked out at my next oil change...

Well since something busted my fog lamp lens I went to the dealer to have it replaced and while I was there I told my SA that my side mirrors seemed really loose. The tech looked at them and said they both need to be replaced. Thank God for an extended warranty...they are $1,100/each...

Rsanders, how much was it to replace the fog lenses? I had both of mine smashed by vandalism. Been slacking on getting fixed

Cost $300 a pop...they have to replace the entire housing...unfortunately it's one piece....the fog light itself is $200...

Finally got the QX back with 2 new mirrors. Evidently they can get loose over time but cannot be re tightened. I hope I don't have that problem again...without warranty it would have been $2,800...

Is the fog light covered by the extended warranty??
