Hey Kcrebel... in the previous thread you mentioned you traded-in the truck.... what did they give you on the trade-in value for the truck??

I have 86k on my 2011, and am thinking about trade-in for the 15 as well!

I just don't wanna get robbed. I had the timing chain/jets replaced last month, will that hurt trade-in values??!!

I got 37500 for my 12 that had a busted windshield with hook em horns cracks running vertically bottom to almost the top as well as the connecting crack across the entire lower section. 15 rock dings total. Got to love Michigan's crumbling asphalt roads and one lone lugnut.
Also I needed new tires terribly. I kept the Blizzaks on from last winter and never swapped back through the summer. They were free to me and I knew I would be trading at some point this year anyway.
Otherwise I am confident I could have gotten the 40k it was listed for.
They have done all of the service work on it and it's all documented. No issues there.
Mint condition exterior and interior save for the windshield.
I should have gotten it replaced last summer but retail is $1200 and I have a $500 deductible. At the rate I was running into rocks I couldn't stand the thought of dropping $500 and have it cracked again in a week.

I use Kelly Bluebook for trade in estimates. I have found they are pretty fair and reliable. Doesn't mean dealers are going to offer it but at least you know what your ride is worth.
I've never quibbled on trade in vs purchase price. I know what the car is worth, what the fair asking price is for a new one so I only look to see what the final total is and work from there. I don't care if they devalue my trade if they add that to the discount of the new one. Make sense?

I am pleased with my trade in and purchase.

Regarding your vehicle I would say having the work done on your timing chain makes it more valuable as opposed to one that hasn't had it done.
Have to remember they take trades with the thought of moving them while making 5k or so profit. A fully repaired vehicle will be easier to sell to a consumer who has read about the timing chain issues in the 11 and early 12 x56's.
Best thing to do is get them to quote you.
Fwiw I have two dealers nearby. I do all of my business at the one that is half hour away. The other one is 10 minutes from my house and they offered me 30k on the trade. Keep in mind this is where the 12 came from. Lol. Go figure. They also stayed very high on the asking price for a new one then offered me a dealer driven one for 2k off invoice. Lol. 2k miles they would have titled as new. All of my communication with them was via email after the one trip for them to do my trade in appraisal. never even drove any of their rides.
I seem to always do better in person especially when I know the folks I am dealing with.

Good luck and keep us posted if you trade!

QX56 trade-ins....

Anyone else getting pestered by their local dealers wanting to "buy" the QX56 ??? They're sending me these pokes/notices every week. Either there is some demand for used QX56s or they just want me to take on more debt... heck, I've got over 92k miles on the Beast and warranty until 120k.......... I might just call them to see how much they're offering on this buyback.

Thing is... what do I purchase if I get rid of the Beast??!! I'm hitting a midlife crisis point shortly..need to look cool sitting in something.

Yes .. while there is a market for used QX56, from what I learned, it's common dealership practice to get you to come in and buy a newer one. One of the ploys my dealership uses is that "we can get you into a new vehicle for the same payment you are paying now"! It's all about selling cars, regardless if new or used.

You can request to be taken off their list.

you already look cool in the Q!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! da heck wrong with you!? :D

I flirted with trading in my 12 for a newer model (I get those notices too). i want the rear back up pedestrian/auto brake sonar system, the "look ahead" breaking system (looks at traffic patterns AHEAD of the car in front of you and adjusts for that, not just the car directly in front), along with the auto dim outside mirrors and factory remote start, but the fully loaded "limited" one costs nearly 90K ish+! that would be the only mode i consider since i have the equivalent now (All options, all trim options).

yeah i would like to not have a car note. i have had a car note since 1991 but this time im REALLY trying to ride this car out. this is the FIRST car i ever really wanted (a dream car if you will) and i am 100% of 100% fully satisfied with it--but dang my problem is i always want the latest and greatest--an issue im trying to fight! :D

*shrugs* I may look into it at the end of next year. I usually get even year model (2006 armada, 2008 armada, 2012 q). dont have a wife to tell me "i dont need it" so i have to self police myself.. thats like giving a recovering alcoholic the keys to the wine cellar and asking him to watch over it... :D

other than a tesla, there is nothing else I want.. :D

Marc, Nike said it best: "Just Do It!"

Seriously I don't have one single regret trading my 12 in on the 15 we have now. Yes it extends a payment program but the improvements are dramatic!

Stop tempting us!!!! Every time i go to the dealer they ask me if I'm ready to make the jump and I just have to walk away quickly...

If the government extends the "tax savings" for 5000+ lbs beast again this year I'll jump into the fire and get a new one...

Trade-in

Went to the dealership yesterday to look at the Q70 3.7 (not the S or the 5.6).. plain ole 3.7. They knocked nearly $10k off the MSRP, bring cost down to $46k plus TTL = $49k and change.....and offered me about $29k for my Beast... 2011 with Theater pack and 96k miles.

Net cost for the Q70 would be about $20k plus the $4g I still owe on the QX note.

Didn't pull the trigger, because I'm still iffy about the Q70

For me, I wouldn't go negative by tacking on the remaining 4k from the QX56 to the Q70 loan. I would negotiate some more. Also, don't forget the service warranty. ;)

Q70 is a nice car...I have a 2011 M37 Tech...but I will say that to me the Q70 doesn't seem as quiet as my M37. The 3.7 really moves but I regret not listening to my bad conscience and springing for the 5.6...lol
