At 112K miles I had the infamous ticking sound that's caused by the bad timing chain. Of course there's a huge recall for timing chains for 2011-13 QX56s. And of course my VIN didn't qualify. Clearly I shouldn't have to spend $6K replacing my timing chain at 112K miles, but here we are. Any ideas on how to get Infiniti's attention on this? Surely I'm not the only one in this predicament.

sure you are not, but if your vin is not a part of the recall, nissan won't honor the replacement. no amount of calling will change that. trying to sue? that would cost more than the cost to repair. class action? again months in litigation with possibly no outcome and after lawyers get their bag, you are left with table scraps.

i know you are quite frustrated and angry. i get it. but that recall ended years ago and if you are just now having the issue, it may not even be because of the recall -- you may have had something else causing the trouble -- im not saying that is the answer, just playin' devil's advocate. its an uphill battle trying to win that argument with nissan that your vin should be in the recall when it wasn't. my 2012 was in the recall but i had NO issues at all. i had it replaced at 56K miles years ago.

I’ve thought the same, believe me. I’ve also heard other stories where making noise actually worked.
