I just purchased a 2012 with Theater package and we all really like the car. However, my kids in the 3rd row complain about the static\crackling sound from the audio headset. I tested the headset and notice crackling sounds also and agree with them.

Has anyone noticed this problem and is there a fix for it?

each headset has a switch that tells the headset which monitor its supposed to connect to.

with regards to the back, each screen can watch an input separate from the other, and there is a switch on the headsets that lock it into a specific monitor.
more than likely, one headset is set for the (L) monitor but is probably being worn by someone who is sitting in front of the (R) monitor...

so check those settings out. i am certain this is the issue.

I am glad I found this post. I am having the same problem. I used infrared headphones for 7 years with my caravan and never had any issues. We were just in the new QX yesterday and both the headphones were set to R, for the right screen and both had static. I find this to be really weird, and pretty lame for how expensive this vehicle is. I would think two headsets could be tuned into the same monitor. I will pull out the manual, but it's still annoying.

it can get confusing, but its a feature.

as stated, the system (including the front monitor) can each have 3 different sources all the the same time.

for the back, each headphone has it set for L or R to correspond to the screen the headphone listener is looking at.

just make sure if you are watching the L side monitor, switch the selector on the headphones to L. same for R.

its an extra step and not something many are used to but its needed in order for each monitor to watch its own source.

hmmmmm.... never knew that. but then again, the kids never complained about the headphones other than to say they're tight on hurt their ears at times. I bought new ones from Best Buy which were a bit more comfy, but now the kids will, on occasion, make me play the audio throughout the whole cabin!!!!

I'm such an easy push over for my baby girls!
