I'm having a hard time deciding on which car to get, a 2000 Infiniti I30 or 1996 Infiniti Q45. The 2000 Infiniti I30 has 156,000+ miles on it where the 1996 Infiniti Q45 has 96,000+ miles. I much prefer the 2000's in/exterior compared to the 1996, but I'm worried that it would be bad to get a car with 156,000+ miles.

The cars aren't very different in their prices; the 2000 Infiniti I30 is about $4,000 and the 1996 Infiniti Q45 is about $3500. I'm hoping a could negotiate them down a bit, though, especially the 2000 Infiniti I30.

How long should I expect either of these cars to last me, I'm hoping to keep the car I choose for the next 4/5 years.

Opinions are greatly appriciated! :]
I don't plan to drive it too much, mostly to and from school, work, home, and the store; all of which are not more than 30mins from eachother.

The i30 uses the vq30dek engine. These engines are know to be very reliable if taken care of. Fail to maintain any vehicle and it will fail.

I have no information on the v8 though.

I vote I30

I have a 99 I30 a 2002 Q45 and my daughter now in a 97 I30. All have been great cars. I am approaching 300,000 miles on the 99; my Daughter at 150,000 on the 97 and we are at 125,000 on the Q - none have had any serious repairs needed. The Q is terrible on gas especially on short trips. However if you live in a colder area - the Q is amazing in the winter. I travel throughout New England and the 4 wheel drive on the Q has always gotten me through any storm we have encountered.

That being said - I love my I30 - how can I not at 295,000 + plus miles with nothing more than brakes and oil changes.
