Stuck on cold and hot air

I have a 1997 infinity I30. The AC and heat works but when I finally get the car to blow hot air I can't get it to go back to cold air without going up and down with the temperature control about 50 times. This is also the same if I get it to blow cold air I can't get it to go back to hot air without going through the same headache.

The car does not run hot or take a long time to warm up so I know the thermostat is working.
