I've got a stripped lug nut on the front passenger side of a 2007 with aftermarket wheels. I'm very much an armature. I've got a friend as backup but he's very busy usually. I'm a jack of all trades and a master of at least few. Computers for sure though not relevant here though I'd return the favor if someone needs help that way. The idiot that last worked on this used a model number gm5370 socket (imperial/standard 13/16ths). It apparently worked but stripped the nut on the way back on which wasn't replaced either. I tried the JB weld trick full 24 hour cure with that socket. It didn't work for at all with a regular driver 1/2 or breaker bar, in that order, and I didn't try an impact. I didn't want to ruin my correct socket gm5369 with JB weld. I think I need to use an extractor but not sure what to buy. Or should I try JB weld again with the correct socket? Try a one size smaller in metric and pound it on or?
As a last resort how would I go about removing the stud? I'm not sure I can cut the nut off. The rotary tool is on its last legs if not toast. I can replace it if needed. I have an angle grinder with a cutting wheel but it will damage the wheel. I don't have access to a cutting torch or at least it would be difficult to find and I've never used one.
