Side Mirror Defrosters

With the recent snow and ice that fell in VA yesterday (6 Mar 13), I used my rear window defroster for the first time. I activated the button and waited to see if the side mirrors with the little emblem with the wavy heat arrows would illuminate. I did not notice any visual change. As there was not any real ice/frost on the mirror I could net tell if the heating element was working.

Can anyone tell me if the little mirror emblems ar suppose to light up or change in any way to show the side mirror defrosters are working?

Nope, they do not change.

They are just there to indicate they are heated mirrors.
