Just some rough math for the folks who think they are saving lots of $ by using regular fuel instead of premium.
Our 2012 has just under 40k on the odometer. So I will use 40k to make the math easier.
16 mpg
22 gallons/average fill
.30 per gallon saved by using regular at 22 gallons=6.60
40k/16=2500 gallons of gas
2500/22=114 fill ups
114*6.60= $752.40 saved

Now lets fast forward to the 60k warranty expiration milestone:
60k/16=3750 gallons
3750/22=170
170*6.60=$1122

Any idea how much a new engine would cost out of pocket? How about new injectors? Is the $1122 saved during the warranty period worth the risk on an 80k vehicle?

I could not agree more.

It's just not worth the risk in my opinion. And there are better ways to save money if that is what you have to do.

As KC said, a "rough calculation". Now factor in the fact that the car will likely perform less and actually use more regular fuel for a similar performance to premium....that circa one grand "savings" whittles even more!!
