So before this I was obsessed with getting a WRX but don't think it would be a great family car. Began looking into 2014 plus q50s. These cars look amazing! Seem to be peppy and fun with good performance and auto for the wife. Tons of safety features are great for family.
My problem is the negative reviews regarding the apps and touch screen. Are they really that bad/slow or has this been fixed?
How does this car compare to other cars to maintain? Not expensive like BMW right? Please help me pull the trigger on this purchase guys! Hehe

I'd rather go for 2016 at least since they've got a newer 3.0 Twin Turbo Engine vs 3.7 in 2014 models.

We're dealing with over dozen cars on daily basis we would have one customer coming in with an issue with the head unit/apps once in 6 months, so I'd say there's no issues with the apps. Maybe some glitches.

It's far less expensive to maintain the vehicle compering to BMWs or any other luxury sports oriented vehicle. You're looking at $45 oil changes at a dealer if you're going with 3.7 non synthetic oil changes. In general, routine service is pretty cheep.

Cheers!
