Hi,
I have a 2013 QX56. Just had tires rotated and oil change Thursday. Friday while driving on expressway with my two young boys, the car became very wobbly. Then the steering wheel was suddenly off by 30* to the right and car was pulling to the right. Once I was off the expressway about 5 minutes, I then began to hear a noise at the passenger rear area. I knew I had to pull over. Suddenly the car swerve signal came on my car dropped. I was so fortunate my boys and I were safe and we weren’t in the expressway going 77 mph.

I looked below the car and the steel/metal frame had snapped.

Had this happened to anyone else?

My car has 110k miles and I get regular maintenance at the Infiniti dealer.

im sorry to hear you had this issue and happy you all got out of this !

whilst anything is possible, this kind of thing is not a known issue or something i see mention on the forums. does not mean it has not happened, but with only going on what little info you told us, its difficult to know the state of your car since none of us can see it.

if you live in the rust belt, maybe some salt/slush got into some parts and did damage.
perhaps you do off roadin' (we only know what you tell us) or the car has been subjected to some trauma going over come pot holes, bumps, etc.
maybe the part was faulty
perhaps the service center damaged something when they did your maintenance.
etc. etc.

did you driver it home or was it towed?
did you purchase brand new or used?
is it a AWD?

all this said, its difficult to know what caused it. you are welcome to attach some photos of the damage and give more details on driving habits, do you tow anything, etc.

perhaps some cats here can give you some ideas.

It had to be towed on flat bed truck. Was a rear passenger control arm. No off reading here ;) Yes salt, live in MI, but get it washed regularly. Had both rear control arms replaced. Apparently just rusted through and snapped.

This happened to me as well. Complete junk truck. Rust bucket. 2013 qx56 with 110k. This is not normal this is junk.

Same thing happened to me! Also while driving down a highway with my kids. Are you having any other problems with your Infiniti? My paint is peeling off.

I have a 2012 qx56 and my arms just rusted in two as well! Have always maintained the vehicle, washed regularly, and all of sudden they snapped. How much was it to replace the arms?

just had this happen to me... in NY, 2012 FX35 with 105,000 miles.... lower right rear control arm rusted through and snapped. Possible $3400 repair with other damage/bent parts/alignment/towing, etc. Owned many cars (used to have dealers license), owned many 40-50 yr old classics and never seen a part like this just rust and snap.

I just bought used 2012 qx56. Paint peeling. Rear left lower control arm broke from the shock mount. Just need to replace that. Timing chain sounds good at 159k (hopefully previous customer took it for recall to get fix)
