I know...I know. TPIWWP. I'll post some this evening after getting her to the body shop.

Anyway, it was probably the typical story: just after dusk, back country road, speed limit 50, never saw the deer until it was about 2' in front of my headlight racing in from the side. It was huge. We have tons of deer in the area, but this sucker was seriously large and left his mark.

We hit it on the front left corner and he rolled down the side of the QX. The damage starts at the grill and extends all the way to the back door on the driver's side. There is about a 2'x2' section completely missing from just below the headlight. The quarter panel is pushed back enough I could only open the driver's door about 3". I pulled over for long enough to assess the QX (after climbing out the passenger door) was able to be driven the 1.2 miles back to my house, but there was a substantial amount of fluid leaking from the front left corner. I'm still not 100% sure whether it was A/C lines, radiator lines, or a transmission cooler. I'm having it towed from the house this afternoon. The front left wheel is a bit wobbly. I'm not sure at this point if it's simply alignment or something worse.

On the good news side of things, the QX is built like a tank. My wife just kept saying she couldn't believe how solid it was. It sounded like we hit a brick wall, but we never lost control and there were no injuries...except the QX and the deer.

I'll post up the list of repairs needed once the body shop takes a look. I'm guessing it's not going to be cheap.
