Q50 testdrive

Q50 get the new mercedes 2.0 turbo engine in Asia and i test drove the Q50 premium version.
no paddle shifters, no DAS.
solid feeling, very nice handling, power is more than adequate for city driving. interior is on par with the 3series but lacking a little to the C and IS class.

in the US, i believe the Q50 is matching against the 328i, IS250 or C200 but in singapore, its priced against the 316t, IS250 and C180... with the exception of 316.. the rest are at least 15% more expensive, with the 316t performing poorer comparatively in almost every department. ... well it was a mismatch inthe first place.

we do not get the dodgy GPS so thats a relieve and dissappointment. and i read alot about pains ofthe intouch system.

absolutely nice car... one can sense the determination of infiniti ... and their arse luck.
with a few areas to improve the Q50 will be a hugely successful flagship line.

still deciding on a purchase.

I wonder if we'll get that 2.0 liter turbo engine here in America. The G25 didn't sell all that well so I have a feeling it won't. However, a turbo 2.0 would offer more power. So maybe... Did you take any pictures of the car?

bmw320, merc c-200, lexus is250, jaguar xf.... were considering. i put a deposit on the Q50!
all things considered, build quality, engine, interior, technology... i consider it the best value for money.

Well congratulations! Post pictures when you get it. I think you're right about it being the best value for the money. It's a great car and considering you're not paying as much for the badge as other brands, you're getting a great day...

just hope to sort out the lack of GPS .. its so dodgy the dealer ripped it out permanantly. now we get a big screen displaying a digital clock ....
wonder if anyone here has a solution to mirrioring the iphone 6 on the upper screen... at least i can use google map for navi.

What do you mean by the dealer took it out permanently? Is the car new or used? Yeah, navigation isn't such a BIG deal anymore considering our phones have Google Maps and Apple Maps...

new. the authorised agent took it out because it just wont work in singapore. they tried installing a localised navi system... not ideal either so now its sold here without a gps navi system. and for the prices we pay over here... its sad actually. btw the Q50 cost like USD120k in Singapore. 30k is tax and 50k is the certificate to own a car. go on..... drop your jaw!!

Wow, it certainly is expensive over there.

Well, as mentioned, at least you have your phone for GPS. I have a feeling that at one point or another cars won't come with GPS installed anymore. It'll just use your phone's system on the screen instead...

hopefully there will be an update on the intouch system to support carplay or anyway to mirror the phone ... displaying it portrait or landscape properly. the current bypass systems in the market mirrors the phone but does a bad job at it. if infiniti really wants to kick the arses of lexus, bmw and audi collectively ... then they have to get these right.. because it is a great car, a very real 3series killer but the intouch... pffftt..
