Purchasing a JX35

I currently have a 2005 G35x with 98,347mi on the odo and I'm guessing around it's worth $8k-$8.5k. My wife loves the look at the JX, but for the first time in our lives she wants a sub $400 payment. So I'm guessing $24k down with $8k trade = $32k. Is it crazy to put this much down? BTW, $24k was set aside for a new car anyways.

Be sure to really put it through the ringer when you test drive the JX. It's nothing like the G35/37, performance wise. The JX is underpowered but overall it does okay if you push the gas. It's a nice family hauler. The CVT is not for everyone; definitely not for me. My wife doesn't mind it and it's her car.
From my experience with Infiniti vehicles, they don't hold value very well compared to Mercedes, BMW, and other German cars. I had my JX appraised by CarMax at the one year mark and it was disappointing.
