I've read a variety of posts on this site to help with figuring out what a good deal would be on a 2012 QX56, but the impression I'm getting is that there is a smaller difference in price between new and used than I would have thought. Am I missing something? Or do these vehicles hold value so well that you almost might as well go new?
For example, used 2012 with 23k miles for $59,000 and only the Theater package. HERE:
I read a post a few pages in on this forum that showed an average auction price for 2012 of $53,600. So, I can't imagine getting the above car for any less than $54,00 or so. Is this assumption wrong? It feels like I'd be lucky to actually get that, because when I look at what is on Ebay Motors, most 2012's are in the $58,000 range.
THen for new ones, I read a post here that showed invoice price for a 2014 QX80 with Theater at about $62,500. And there are several posts that seem to say you can get a new one at about $2500+ off invoice price, so for about $60,000 for a new 2014?!?
IF my above is correct, this seems to indicate a depreciation of only 10% from a 2014 to a 2012.
It seems like a new one is the way to go at the moment.
