Premium gas

I agree with you 100% .. I too am perplexed why some choose this route.

It's like they want to prove the engineers wrong. The ECU can only retard the timing so much and after deposits start forming then you will get the pinging and knocking.

Some will put all kinds of aftermarket stuff on their vehicle and then use regular gas...lol

Why not throw some cheap 30wt oil in while you are at it to save a few bucks....it won't destroy your engine immediately but it sure as hell will wear it out over time...

have any of you cats complaining about using high test fuel ever USED 100 octane in the qx??????

I have used it many many times. the ECM LOVES 100 octane!!!!

in CA there is only 91 at the pumps so the ECM is retarding timing.

once you put in 100 (you can even put some in and mix it with lower octane to get an overall higher average octane) the most noticeable increase in performance is idle and acceleration.

ive been using 100 octane off and on for the past 3 years in this car and each time the performance is felt within the second trip in the car AFTER you have filled the tank with it.

now in other parts of the country 93 is around so thats cool but in CA at least, 91 is all we got, which is unfortunate for an engine of this type and the potential performance it has...

Any issues with 91 oct at a higher elevation? We live in Colorado and 91 is as good as it gets.
