My infiniti has had a cold tap since I bought it used 1.5 years ago. While at first I thought it was the exhaust gasket, that has since been replaced and the cold tapping persists. It's just on the drivers side. The colder it is out, the more pronounced the tap, goes away completely when warm. Are these cars known for this or piston slap in general?

not in my experience

no.

i have heard the piston slap on my 2012 in very hot conditions when i was driving for a while and shut off the car for a couple minutes (i.e. run into an ATM or grab something quick from the store).

upon turning it on i would hear a tap/ping but not every time.

i have NEVER in all the years of owning two armadas and my q, have i heard a cold tap.

i had something that i thought was piston slap. turns out it was lower down in the engine. i had 700 miles left on my warranty...they replaced the whole engine.
