hello all. my wife has a 97 i30 and just recently, while driving, the car will lose power and then cut off. if you're trying to pull off from a light, the car will hesitate and then cut off. we took it to the mechanic last weekend and they said the mass air flow sensor was dirty. they cleaned the sensor and it drove fine up until this morning when it did the exact same thing. upon doing a google search, i came across many different pages. one said that the ecu needs to be reset (unhooking battery for 30mins does this?) after cleaning or replacing the sensor and it takes about 500 miles to fully "learn". then i see another site that states it doesn't need to be reset. now the shop wants to charge $300+ in parts for a new sensor and of course i've seen it online for less. question is...has anyone had this to happen? and is this something that i can do (i'm fairly handy with the tools)? thanks in advance!!
