Well... as y'all know, I've been screaming about the QX Bluetooth inadequacies for some time now. So I took it in and told them about the TSB (ITB12-063c) that exist regarding the poor sound, and they still deny that and I gave them the TSB. Fine, they agree and will replace it when they order it.

The issue I have is this.... I now have 61000 miles on the QX, which is just outside the 4yr/60000 warranty (I do have the extended 6yr/120000 bumper-bumper) so they want to put it through the extended warranty and charge me the deductible $100 for the service.!!!

I tell them no, it's already been brought to their attention twice and should be address without charging me a $100... we'll see what happens with this.

The other problem I'm having is the door hinges keep getting loose and I have to re-tighten the nuts on both the driver and passenger front doors. They've already addressed this last years, via tightening the nuts as I repeatedly do... now they're saying the hinges need to be replaced as well, and will go through the extended warranty as well... with the $100 deductible!!!! arrrggg!!!:mad:

So, now they think they're doing me a favor by putting both the hinges and Bluetooth under one claim to SAVE me a $100bucks!!

Loook.... a $100bucks is not gonna bankrupt me, it's the principle of the issue... These issues were brought to their attention in the past and bandaid, and now with warranty expired they discover they should have been replaced.

So, how do I handle the $100 surcharge??!!

In my experience, if a problem was documented prior to the warranty expiring, the dealership will honor the repair. I've had this done on vehicles ranging from a Jeep to an Audi and never had an issue. In your case, since nothing was ever done to rectify the initial complaint, you have an even stronger case. You might start with a call to corporate Infinity of America's customer care center and go from there.

I agree with Sjyokel - you should go over their head to Infiniti USA. In my experience with Subarus, there is a corporate regional manager of some sort that can authorize warranty work.

Try the Consumer Affairs number here:

Regarding your door hinge nuts - has anyone tried any thread-locking fluid such as Loctite?

Regarding the door hinge nuts... I thought maybe the use of Loctite as well, or even a physical lock washer... but I was caught by surprise when they said the hinges themselves need replacements

Gumbey... where did u hear about the hinge/warranty issue?? is it a recall?

I was just in for service this past weekend. I told them my driver side rear door was creaking and needed grease / lube. They did fix that one up but noticed that the drivers door was acting up too. The tightened the bolts on the hinge but it didn't solve the problem. They ordered a new part to be installed under warranty.
