I recently purchaced a used 2006 Infiniti M35 with over 100K on it. It now has a noticable engine knock when it is in park and neutral and once it has been driven for a while. When started in the cold morning there is no noise at all. The knock also seems to go away when the car is placed in drive and reverse. The check engine light is on and a code checker that I have states that it has a p0430 code which relates to a catalyst devise.
Has anyone else ever heard of this or know what could be causing this knock. I took it to an independent mechanic and to the Infiniti dealer and both seem to think that it is coming from the engine but can not say what is causing it unless they took it apart.
This seems almost unbelievable to me because these Nissan engines are awesome and I have never heard of one going bad.
