Hello, my "service engine soon" light came on about 5 miles after I had the oil changed. I went to Autozone and they said the code is low fuel pressure. The truck runs fine with no noticeable problems. I checked that the gas cap is on tight as well. The truck has 103500 miles. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
 
what was the actual code?

could be a faulty petrol pump. petrol rail...

are you the only owner? what octane petrol are you using?
 
Thanks for the reply. P0087 was the code. Second owner and 87 octane. I will use higher octane next fill up just habit for grabbing the cheap stuff.
 
there was a recall on some model year pumps. take your vin and call a local Nissan dealer and see if there was any recall work done on the car prior.

my 2011 ended up with a new (high pressure) fuel pump...however, mine was just really loud and wasn't throwing codes.
 
The service engine light came on again at start up. The QX took longer to start than normal and when it did start the service engine soon light came on. ??
 
Update-- After resetting the service engine light it does not come on as long as I push the start button without foot on the brake and I let fuel pump ( I think) come on for a couple seconds then start as normal. The QX has never shown any problems driving at all. So i would assume that the fuel pressure lowers after the QX is turned off for a while? Any suggestions??
 
since you can clear fault codes are you pulling any codes at all from the obd port?

at some point its recommended to pay the diagnostic fee and have infiniti look at it and go down those rabbit holes. could be any number of things.. petrol pump, petrol rail, injectors, .....

I literally just had the exact same thing happen. Same year, same mileage, and it was a week after an oil change. The part is incredibly expensive. Did you find out anymore on this?

This makes me think the in tank pump is where the issue is.
 
My car is in the shop again, with this code and a bad 02 sensor. My mechanic thinks the bad 02 sensor could be causing the code. But he said if not, there's a TSB that involves Infiniti reprogramming your ECM. I don't have the number for it.

My low pressure pump is getting replaced today. $900 at the dealer since the car is in DE and i can't get it to my local mechanic before we go away.

I was wrong about the TSB -- that's for a different code i had (TSB is for p0051 not this one).

Above someone was asking about the symptoms -- this is how i understand it from the mechanic. Initially there won't be many you would notice. over time as the low pressure pump fails more you will see it taking longer to start / hard start. As mentioned low pressure pump is in the tank and sends the fuel up front to the high pressure pump. (Which, as an aside, I've also had replaced on this car, sigh). Eventually car won't start.

I'm dealing with this issue now, and I don't trust my local dealer. Does the car act different when the high pressure pump fails compared to low pressure pump?
 
i never had performance issues with either. the high pressure made a loud whine at the end.

Crazy how many problems we all get with this car. But then again, it is kind of expected that cars do have problems over time.

Did you get any of these fixed under warranty? I mean do you have extended warranty on your QX? Did you use it to repair any of these?

Glad you got your problem fixed. Did you replace the O2 sensor also? If you did replace your O2 sensor, have you ever rep,laced the cat on the side where the O2 came out?
 
not under warranty, as mine expired at 100k and i have about 110. i've had both cats replaced (and the whole engine, and both fuel pumps, and the master cylinder, and the rear camera, and a wheel bearing or two).

Wow. You have done a lot already. You had the WHOLE ENGINE replaced? Ok, that means you got a new car. There should not be anything going bad again after that.

I am right behind you on some stuffs also. I have had rear camera replaced, a dvd headrest replaced, one cat replaced. the other cat threw a light and I have already bought parts to get that replaced some day soon.

also, I saw the spark plugs super cheap. i just bought 8 again. I did change my spark plugs about 30,000 miles ago. these spark plugs are rated for 100,000 miles, but because of a super good deal I saw, i just bought 8. My friend changes these for me for $50. I may even buy the ac belt again, just because my friend can do both for me.

But I am very upset that I have to replace the second cat. Truly not happy about it as my warranty is not covering a dime of that.

I hope you plan to keep your car until atleast 200,000 miles. I always take very good care of any vehicle I have ever owned and this is no exception. I may try to keep this car until atleast 200,000 miles. It is a great car.

at the same time, the rear suspension still loses air (forgot to mention i replaced the pump 3 weeks ago), and i suspect it's in a shock. so thats another thing. and i still have my transmission-related (since everything else has been replaced (engine, fuel pumps) 2,000 RPM stuttering. so does my transmission crap out on me one of these days?

if i get some cash i'm likely to trade it in for a pilot or something, or maybe a newer used QX if i find a good deal.

the contrast is that i have a 2007 g35, owned since 2010, that aside from oil changes has had exactly 2 wheel bearings replaced, and a part of the exhaust that rusted out. i don't understand how the same company made both cars.

Your situation is definitely similar to mine. I really like this car and plan to treat mine right and hope it really lasts me a while.

Too bad to see you have such long list of problems with yours. I hope you get all that sorted out. How many miles do you have on it today? I have 119,000 right now on mine.

As for your contrast with your G35, that is spot on with mine. Though yours is a 2007 Infiniti and mine is a 2008 Nissan. I tell you that my Maxima is my most reliable car ever. I remember when I went to trade in my Maxima to buy my first ever suv about 5 years ago, my 2010 Nissan Armada. They were offering me about $1,200 because of high mileage. I have a lot of miles on the car, but for that much? I said I am keeping this car. And 5 years now I feel my car drives as reliable and as fast as many new cars out there. I call it "Catch me if you can", because when I take that car on road trips, I can only see all cars in my rear view mirror be it Mercedes, Porche, BMW or whatever they call them. They can barely catch up.

My Maxima is my most reliable car ever. And I have decided to keep that car till death do us part. I will keep this car for as long as possible. I have not done any expensive repairs on it, just basic things to maintain it. I say keep yours too forever. If it is not broken, do not sell it.
