Hey guys. New to the forum. I've always been an escalade kind of guy with 3 of them under my belt so far. Looking to get a used 2012 qx56 with all the bells and whistles. The qx is definitely the best value in its class.

I'm eyeing one that has the tire & wheel, deluxe touring, technology package, and 3rd row bench with 6700 mi for $68k. I'm in Los Angeles and this car is out of state so I will have to factor another $1000 to have it shipped out. It's also a certified pre-owned through an Infiniti dealer.

Is this a good deal? How much room for negotiating do I have? Is a brand new for $78k a better route? I'm not sure if there is any factory or dealer incentives for it now.

Thanks in advance for any input. Greatly appreciated!

I think you need to try and get it lower. This has low miles so it must have been sold late last year and those were often sold at big discounts. So it had a MSRP of 78k but probably sold for 68-72k. Now I assume a dealer has bought it for probably around 60k and trying to sell for 68k. Maybe others have a better idea, but these are my thoughts.

Absolutely agree with theta! It can be had for cheaper.
For one, you could probably get into a 2013 with all the bells and whistles for closer to $70,000 ( minus ttl).
Offer $7000-$9000 off of sticker, and be sure to appear to have no attachment to taking the car home that day. I think you'll be surprised at what happens. Just my .02 cents.

Got mine at Infiniti of Cerritos.

I agree with theta regarding pricing. I was thinking about offering $61k as starting point and see where that takes me. Now I feel a bit more comfortable lowballing them. Maybe I'll start at $59k.

Hey Jetskier, how much did you get yours for from cerritos? Full loaded? Did you finance through Infiniti and receive incentives?

Thanks for all the replies.

Tire and wheel, and entertainment package...sticker was $71,000 and change.
I got it, OTD, for $67,000 and change, I think Vehicle price with all incentives included (captive cash, dealer cash, and mfg's rebate, possibly some dealer holdback) was around $61,000. I had absolutely no intention of buying the day I went, but I had also done my research so I knew everything about the car (and pricing) and low-balled to the point that I did not think they would even bite, and to that point, I was absolutely not willing pay any more than I offered.
My original plan was to buy a 2012 QX (new), which I had found in san diego, and was hoping to buy it for a $10 - 12,000 discount, since it was last years model. So, I used these numbers for my offer on the 2013, and they took it. :-)
They must KNOW that you are willing to leave the dealership without buying!
The MUST know you are not attached to driving the car home that day.

Yes, Infiniti financing. They may tell you 3.49% is the best they can do even with 800 + score, but not true. I believe I got them down to 2.39%, though it may have been 2.49. Point is, you can do better than what they say is is their lowest rate (3.49)

i recently got a 2012 with about 6900 miles, and it was loaded with every possible option except the front black grille and the tent.

touring
wheel
tech
theater
4wd
white/tan
illuminated running boards
stainless steel rear bumper trim

and i got it otd for 66 (they were asking 68900)...MSRP would have been 78k and i priced a 2013 new and it would have been 78400 i think.....

so you have some room to work OP if it has no theater/4wd...but they will laugh you out the door at 61 unless its purple. the touring package is highly sought after and demands a strong premium in the used market.

there are no incentives now because it is by far infinitis best selling model..you can squeeze the ad money and some other tidbits from them, but the absolute lowest i could get new was about 3k off...

i never buy new anyway and i got a screaming deal on my trade in...so the used made sense.

If they "laugh you out the door", then leave and go somewhere else. Seriously, my friend, I have to respectfully disagree, there is no way on earth that the QX is "by far their best selling model", period...absolutely no way!. Walk onto any dealers lot and see how many QX's they have vs. any other model. One of the dealers I went to before I got mine still has the same two QX's that they had 2 months ago.

..."but the absolute lowest i could get new was about 3k off..."
Maybe so...from THAT dealer! You can absolutely do better than that...no question! Go to another dealer. Some dealers are more motivated than other dealers for various reasons at any given time. You just have to find that dealer.

And at the risk of putting one last nail in my coffin here in the forum... :-)
C'mon...there is no such thing as "a screaming deal on my trade-in". They get you one way or another, they just do!

I'll go now.

jet ski you are right these Qs are not selling well--not because the car is bad but because the economy--which is no surprise to anyone.

ive had my 2012 a little over a year and to date ive only seen less than 10 unique qs on the road here in LA. perhaps later this year or next as early adopters trade in due to the cost of petrol, maintenance, moving to something smaller, etc, THEN you may see more on the road, but i would not call the new Q their best selling.. ;)

but don't get me wrong, i absolutely ADORE this car!!! I just cant wait to get in it and drive. :D

Yeah, I wouldn't expect a luxury, gas guzzling, high priced SUV to be an automakers best selling vehicle. However, I wonder how QX sales compare to Infiniti's projected goals?

I wouldn't take the sales process personally, it's just business. If the numbers don't make sense the dealer will walk away from you too.

I traded in a car once where the dealer called me back to tell me they gave me too much for my trade in and they got a call from their corporate office. I would say I got a screaming deal for my trade in and a great deal on the purchase of the new car. It can be done but rare. All other times I've sold my car in a separate transaction before buying a new one.
