Ipod integration for 2009 M35

I purchased a 2009 M35. Ipod worked on/off for a week. When I asked the dealer where I purchased the car to replace the cable, I was told the cable is not the issue and that many ipods do not integrate with Infinitis. I found this preposterous given it is one of the key features in the car. I do believe it is simply a bad cable; unfortunately the dealer near me does not have any replacement cables in stock. Does anyone have any thoughts on this "integration" comment? Thanks.

ipod cable for M35X

I recently purchased a certified pre-owned M35X. where should I be looking for the iPod cable? Is this the standard cable to the USB connector or is this a new cable?

Does somebody know if this is part of the car or should I purchase it separately?

It should work with most Ipods other than shuffle.
