I have a 2012 QX56. My front screen is hacked to play DVD's. I want to connect my ipad so I can play Netflix or other apps on ALL screens (front and 2 rear headrests). Currently front only plays DVD, rear can play anything I connect thru component. Any suggestions? Thanks, all

doesn't apple make a component to usb dongle?

if not, there are boxes you can purchase that can convert a usb input to different outputs.

you cant use the usb port up in front if you are suggesting that.

I would like to know how to do this too....I have not been able to find a box or cables to convert.

Here is a youtube video of a guy that did a hack but never says how.

I have the adapter to play video up front or input an address into the nav unit while in motion but could never figure out how this guy did this.

i looked into this a couple of months ago. i spoke with someone that had a lot of apple product knowledge. he said he thought the only way for it to work was to use an ipad that had a 20pin connector. there is an adapter from the 20 pin connector to composite cable that should work. according to my source, using a lightning to 20pin adapter and then 20pin to composite adapter will only supply audio. hope that wasnt too confusing. what i ended up doing was buying a cheap android box with a composite output and buying a 2.4 ghz wireless remote. the box stays inside the center console and hooks up in there. i ran power to the plug behind the center console to have the ability to control power.

I'd like to see what your setup looks like. Some pics if possible?

sure. i probably wont get pictures until monday or tuesday. just a heads up i use kodi mostly on the android box. it does a really good job of organizing movies, tv shows, and music and is very compatible with the remote i have.

Cool. Thanks. I have kodi on a surface so I'm familiar with it.

I've kept our first gen iPad for exactly this reason. There doesn't seem to be a Lightning connector solution for this. You can get a 20-pin to composite cable here: http://www.amazon.com/AV-composite-video-tv-rca-iPhone/dp/B005F2YDXI
for only $7 or $39 through the Apple store. That makes me a little crazy. I think we paid close to $100 for ours.

I think I found the answer to doing this and I'm going to test it in a few days when the things I ordered come. First I ordered the lightning to hdmi cable from Apple (through Amazon), and I also ordered http://www.adcmobile.com/hdmi-av/ which I think will work.

I'll update this once I've tried it and let everyone know.

Anyone get iPad/ rear aux to work? I got an isimple component- hdmi adapter but no video comes through?. Audio will play but not even a laptop will send video to screens?..

rear inputs are baseband so you need an avi out.

also if movie is copyright protected, this may also cause issues.
